Death in Southall April 1979

A teacher died in Southall this week
On his way home from a demonstration.
He was a quiet man protesting his dislike of racists.

"Law and Order is what we need" said the police.
"Give us more guns, riot shields, truncheons so that we can protect the public and have a little fun and excitement instead of yer borin' old "Ello, Ello, Ello."

Teachers are required by the edicts of the big red book to point out the immorality of racism and to do their best to provide equally for rich and poor, black and white.
Now the teacher's learned another lesson.
You cannot walk the streets in search of truth without fear of being beaten to death by the police.

What happened to the kind old Bobby who saw you across the road, and told you the time?
He too has become organised, mechanised, transistorised, terrorised and he too has learned to defend himself and his fears, by attacking a teacher on his way home from a demonstration.

The politicians condemn the 'troublemakers' and tell the police what a good job they are doing.
