MEDAWISLA (THE LOON)
By Annette Bromley
- 999 reads
Medawisla, queen of the mountain pond,
plaintively she sings
and the mountains echo
back her plaintive evening song.
Listen, hear her calling,
Medawisla, all night long,
calling, waiting for her mate.
Medawisla, Lady Loon,
her eyes gleam with ruby fire;
plaintively she sings
of her heart's desire,
sings her song in evening
calling to the moon:
Moon rises to her calling.
Hear the joyful laughter of the loon.
See her dancing on the water,
waltzing to and fro.
The moon waltzes with her
where e'er Medawisla goes.
Lovely Medawisla,
queen of the mountain pond.
Her joy fills the darkness of the night
until the moon has gone.
Medawisla, queen of the mountain pond,
joyfully she sings
and the mountains echo
back her joyful nightly song.
