THE GARDEN FAIRY

I've just met the garden fairy.
Her gown is emerald green.
She was the tiniest of people
that I have ever seen.
She really is quite pretty
and she seems to like my flowers.
She visits them quite regularly
when she flies in from the bower.
She sits often on my morning glories
and flies on lovely, lacey wings,
she loves my daffodils and violets
that grow there every spring.
To have fairies in your garden
is a quite wondrous thing.
If I listen very quietly
I can hear the fairies sing.
I can hear the tinkle of their laughter
among the ripple of the leaves
and hear them chattering among themselves,
their voices carried on the breeze.
Tiny fairies in your garden
may be seen but do not touch.
If you chance to find some living there,
they bring you lots of luck.
