Flying

I hear your wings beat behind me, wherever I go.
Sometime ago, I tried to run from you.
But however far I ran, or how fast I sped,
You always were there, right behind me.
Ever silent, apart from that constant droning of your wings beating.
Everytime I looked, you were never there!
I could only see you out of the corner of my eye,
A ghostly shape above the ground, wings white as a dove.
That constant droning of wings.
I know you'll always follow me, haunt me.
That's because I know I can never let you go.
I can never forget... Nor should I forget.
Forgiveness is for those who deserve it,
Those who have wronged enough to make it right.
Forgiveness is beyond me...
And so, I run again, faster than ever before.
I hope and I wish, that I may lose you again,
But you perservere and follow me, to the ends of the earth.
And on this precipice, this final edge,
I see the darkness spread below me,
and at the bottom awaits death's door...
Off this precipice I soar.
