Without a paddle

Education sold my soul.
Packaged me and shipped me whole
into employment, lifes enjoyment,
slowly slipping frmy grasp.
Whilst kissing butt and ageing,fast.
With mortgages and loans and debts
hot on my heels at every step.
Now, looking back,
My youth departed,
Wishing I had never started,
To sell my time exploit, my talents
Over turn my work life balance.
The opulence I could achieve,
is getting harder to believe.
Homes and gardens,yachts and cars.
In my face,beyond my grasp.
Provide first rate work for second rate wages.
Scrimp and save for bloody ages.
Do without,don’t lie in bed.
So our kids can get ahead.
Undervalued, underpaid,
Understandably enraged,
Under pressure,undermined,
Unrecognised,abused,maligned.
It all comes down to pounds and pence.
What you earned and what you spent.
What you saved, what you gave.
Who robbed you,
What you pissed away.
Pennies from heaven.
Bank notes from hell.
Futures in purgatory.
Will you rest well?
When investing in markets, buying options in darkness
And trading in shares of a tragedys plot,
As you harvest the flesh of the ones who have not.
Couture and technology, the wealth of your might.
The spoils of a lifestyle
But no sign of a life.
