Talking Wednesday!

It's 4:35 on a wonderful grey Wednesday Morning and I've had my breakfast. Just simple cereal: a million miles from the cooked on a shovel bacon and eggs that my grandfather used to provide, or the doorstop half slice of toast and butter that my father would sometimes give me as I made the fire in Scarborough.

Today I'm thinking specifically about the water again. How it affects people, and their children. Although I suspect it would have to be proved by research. This is just speculation.

In an affected home you might find sufferers with bowel/digestion/urinary conditions. The children may have low intelligence, and or modern day british dyslexia and some early signs of the physical conditions of the parents. This happens to a lot of single parent children.

Note: Modern day Dyslexia is a condition which refers to any form of reading/writing disorder mixed with any other condition and with low intelligence, and goes with a spectrum of A-Z. It gets a lot of money thrown at the school and comes under the aspects of Mencap. I like Mencap and I don't believe this should have happened. It may be said to have completely replaced the term 'iliterate' in the vocabulary of most people.

Old fashioned Dyslexia now called something else (Information Proccessing difficulties?) if the child is lucky enough to get a clued up psychologist. Doesn't yet attract any money to the school. Child has to fit an A-C criteria. Must posess an over average to higher intelligence and worries a lot about modern day dyslexia. These extremely rare children show a need for a different way of learning and probably need to learn at different ages.

Research should look at the life curve of learning and the differences between their success and failures between age groups of Gifted, Normal, Learning Disabled and this last group of Different Orientated Children. This would give teachers something to aim at when planning to teach children with these conditions.

All children with conditions (apart from Gifted unless they come under DOC) are collected and put in remedial classes at the end of every year group. This successfully hides the fact that some children will achieve if given a chance. Absolutely perpetuates the myth that children of single parents are always in the bottom classes. Eventually they may be ushered into a home for Dyslexics (now known to be expected criminals, emotionally unable, and low IQ), what an end to what used to be a term for bright able people with a unexpected curve, who can could achieve. To be reassigned to those children it was never expected to cover.

Now of course, I will have someone blast me for all the above. I will obvioustly know nothing about it. Parents of these children will be scarred by my opinion. I do know something about it all, I am on planet earth, I know first hand how chidren suffer when faced by all this. I also know that for the DOC & the old style dyslexic the future may be better than they imagine if they have support at home plus good teachers.

Since the popularity of the term 'dyslexia' has gone to unimaginable proportions due to the expectations of funds for schools. In old fashioned Dyslexia the statements spelt out the funds, and stated exactly what they were to be spent on. The parents were also informed. Mencap was not involved.

Will I be saying my children were Dyslexic in future?
Two had old style dyslexia and one was I.P.D., and I can honestly say they all are honest and hard working members of society. No none of them are dyslexic.

They are all rare and wonderful people who only had anything to do with Mencap, because I worked for Mencap! I'd work for Mencap again if I had the chance, because I like working with Learning Disabled children, yet I would be horrified if I came across a real old style dyslexic child or an I.P.D child in the group because they don't belong there. LIke the other rare and wonderful people who might have a bright future if they had help & support at school, they would have had nothing if they had been diagnosed today. The IPD child had nothing: the funding goes to the Dysexic (illiterate) children.

Now I'll go face Wednesday: because I have an interview today and I'm not gay or lesbian, and I don't scream about disabilities, or have a friend on the council :)

hehe. I'll just go face it and hope I actually get a job. I'm afraid it's just agency work.
