Unravelled

You said love never fails.
Failsafe. Death proof.
Proof of the pudding is in the eating.
Eating your words, your sweet, endless, false words.
Words that now mean little, it was all hollow.
Hollow like a coffin and I the dead body.
Body crush and flesh so sweet now body blows that double me up.
Up’s the game. You were only playing a game.
Game for a laugh, or a cry, or an endless weep.
Weep, weeping willow, torrents of tears on pillows.
Pillow fights and so much laughter, I nearly burst.
Burst wide open, my insides spilled out for all to see.
See? What have you done?
Done for! I’m done with this nothing, nothing,
Nothing from you for all my pleading, needing you back.
Back up! No, back off heartbreak! I hear the sound of me cracking,
Cracking like a clay pot,
Pot black and all ruined,
Ruined the landscape of my soul, now wretched,
retched and heaving stomach and sighs,
Sighs on a bridge, relentless disbelief and piteous begging
Begging for your pity. Stop Thief!
Thief who robbed me blind.
Blind and groping, hoping to retrieve what you once said,
You said love never fails.....
