The Mosquito

God was in his creation mode conjuring the creatures to inhabit the earth.
He thought of the mosquito and asked the yet to be formed idea, what shape and attributes it would like.
The idea of the mosquito answered, ‘I want a sharp hypodermic needle and a hammer.’
‘Why do you need these things?’ asked God.
‘With the needle, I want to suck the blood of man’ the formless thing answered.
‘And the hammer?’ asked God.
‘The hammer is to drive the needle deep into the skin to reach the blood.’
The mosquito took shape. It looked at itself in the mirror of creation and admired its beautiful light form and the sharp needle it had for a mouth - but something was missing.
‘The hammer’, the just formed creature screamed,
‘where’s the hammer?’
‘Coming’, said God, ‘coming’.
