The End of Paradise
Hello! Am glad you joined us
Paradise is soon to be no more
Crock is selling up the place
Soon will close the doors
He says it’s time to pack it in
Thinks he’s had enough
He’s been through some hard times
And things are getting rough
There’s not so many regulars
They’ve drifted off one by one
We hope they will stop by tonight
For one last night of fun
I can tell you about a few of them
If you want to know
It would help me to tell you now
As I’m feeling low
Some of the news is good
Some of it is not
The cop that used to join us
Seems that he got shot
They say he will recover
That it will just take time
He won’t be joining us tonight
And that is such a crime.
We always liked his stories
He was always so up beat
We have all wished him well
And back up on his feet
But lets move on to others
Old Peter’s still got his charm
You will be surprised tonight
When you see who’s on his arm
Seems someone’s tamed him
Or perhaps it’s her that’s tamed
It doesn’t really matter
They’ve both given up the games
Well they are coming in now
But you can buy me a drink
The night will be over
Sooner than you think
Now, the wannabe actress
She finally got a part
She played a dead body
But she says it’s a start
Old Zipper became an extra
The actress suggested it
Said with his character
He’s bound to be a hit
Zipper got tired of jiving
Said it’s a young man’s game
They are both pursing acting now
Chasing their dreams of fame
The artist is still painting
It seems he’s doing well
I never did pose for him
But you can never tell
We might come to an agreement
As to what I should wear
I still think nothing but a smile
Would leave me much too bare
The lovely guy from Kenya
Well, he’s never slowed down
He came in again the other day
When he was in town
He said things are going well
He’s been very busy
The pace that he works at
Would make most people dizzy
His smile is looking tired
And for him I am concerned
Some people won’t listen
It seems they never learn
You know the couple that broke up
He went to Buenos Aires
He’s back with his wife now
Got tired of the affair
They both do counselling now
If your marriage is in trouble
They say with a few sessions
They can fix it on the double
The place is filling up now
I like to see it like that
At the end of the evening
We’re going to pass the hat
Give Croc a proper send off
He’s been a friend to us all
Someone’s gonna do it
Just after the last call
Me, what am I doing?
Not sure that I should say
I’ve been seeing a new guy
But it’s early days
No it’s not the accountant
Though it’s someone that you know
He’ll be here to pick me up
When its time to go
Let’s just say that Paradise
Might not be totally lost
You know I’ve always fancied
Being my own boss
Ah, now it’s last call
And you owe me another gin
I see tears in the eyes of most
Behind their silly grins
So cheers my friends,
It’s time to go
But you should watch this space
It’s hoped we won’t let Paradise
Disappear without a trace!
