Light/Lifeline

In the dark
I reach for the light switch
But find an absent space instead
My heart is in my gut
Beating sick/loud/uncontrollable
I'm in the dark
And my lungs are closing in
Like thick walls of brick
I reach for my life line
But find the cord is cut
I cry out for help
for you
But I'm in the dark
Swimming in the deepest sea
Without air
My lungs are closing in
And I can't find the switch
This is the end
I realise
I saw this coming
I knew
But not like this
No loss/no devastation
Quite like this
I can't find my way home
To you
Because the light/life line is gone
I'm all alone in the dark
Completely
My cries echo as the walls close in
You were my light
