The Seventh Dimension, Part One: Explanation Of the Theory

This is a science-fiction story about "Dimension jumping", as a way of time travel.
Time travel, as we know it, is not possible. However, time is not linear. Well, it is, but it isn't. It is a dimension. Actually, multiple dimensions stacked upon each other. There are 13 Time Dimensions.
Think of time as a huge reel of multi-track audio tape, but with 13 tracks. Each track represents a certain period in time. At the end of a Dimension, we quietly move into the next, and the people we replace will move into their new Dimension, our future, and the Dimension we leave will be filled by other people leaving their previous Dimension.
Currently, our generation is Dimension 8. Our generation is the only one that will see two Time Dimensions, because the Dimensions we are in are shorter ones, as will be explained later.
We currently do not know when one Dimension ends, and the next begins exactly, as the mathematical calculations are very complicated.
As far as we know, Dimension 7 ended sometime in 2009.
With this in mind, and the proper knowledge, it is possible to jump between the Time Dimensions, thus representing time travel.
However, you can only jump one Dimension at a time, and only to the exact same spot on the adjacent dimension. Therefore, it is not possible to pick a specific time and date.
There are a few dangers with this. The one is that although time is not theoretically linear, it is to us. Therefore, skipping back to a previous Dimension, one has to be careful not to change anything, as it could cause catastrophic changes to all future Dimensions. Also, the Dimensions are different sizes, and therefore do not line-up exactly. Since time (The tape) keeps moving, if you visit another dimension and you are there for five weeks, you can not return to your own Dimension the same time you left. You would return to whatever date and time lines up with the Dimension you are visiting. Since the Dimensions are different sizes, your own Dimension (Default Dimension), could have advanced only a few hours, or maybe a few years.
Since the dimensions are different sizes, that means some parts of the "tape" are blank.
What happens when you try to jump to a part of a Dimension that is empty? Easy. You can't.
This poses another danger of Dimension jumping. You could get stuck away from your default Dimension, because you have stayed too long visiting an alternate Dimension, that your own has reached a blank spot.
It has been said that there is a problem with the current Dimension. Back in 2009, it did not switch over properly. As if the tape head got stuck between two tracks. Right now, Dimension 7 and 8 are crossing over each other. This explains the odd weather patterns and other unusual Earthly problems we have been experiencing the past few years.
There is a good side to this. It means that right now it is easier than ever to jump between Dimensions.
The following chapters of this story will describe a Dimension jumping experiment gone horribly wrong. Simply because the people conducting the experiment did not think about the simple things, and also did not know about the line-up of the Dimensions, as suggested below.
As you will see from the chart, the Dimensions at the ends are longer. 1, 2, 12, and 13 are longer, while 5, 6, 7, and 8 are shorter.
The following chart shows you the line-up for a specific date in the current Dimension (8), with time of day (Mean):
Dimension 1... October 9 1446 B.C. , 04:53
Dimension 2... June 17 839 B.C. , 11:19
Dimension 3... November 23 41 B.C. , 17:27
Dimension 4... March 2 598 A.D. , 07:30
Dimension 5... August 19 1387 , 01:34
Dimension 6... September 7 1818 , 23:44
Dimension 7... March 29 1979 , 21:18
Dimension 8... May 14 2013 , 03:39
Dimension 9... January 2 2214 , 04:15
Dimension 10... April 27 2668 , 10:10
Dimension 11... August 5 4900 , 13:01
Dimension 12... December 26 9113 , 20:22
Dimension 13... October 30 14881 , 12:00
Following this chart, if you were to move back a Dimension from May 14, 2013, you would end up in March 29, 1979.
To answer one last question you may have. What happens at the end of the 13th Dimension?
Well, the World will not end, because as we all know that can not be accurately predicted. What will happen is that the "tape" will begin to rewind. Time, in theory, will move backwards.
However, if humans are still around, we will likely not know when that happens, and if we did, we would not accept it. We are not going to build clocks the move backwards, or celebrate the coming of the "New Year", which would be the previous year. For us, time will continue to more forward, even if it really is not.
