Butterflies

The wings of the blue morpho have no patterns;
they look just like blue lingerie of satin.
The swallowtail’s pretty wings always look
just like crayon in a colouring book.
The painted lady’s wings are brightly peppered
with gold and spots like the fur of a leopard.
The purple emperor is like a fan;
the kind refined ladies use in Japan.
The little skipper’s wings are much more sober
like scattered, golden leaves in mid-October
The pretty wings of the purple hairstreak,
in mascara and eye-shadow, look chic.
The large copper has wings that brightly burn
just like a Halloween pumpkin lantern.
And all of them flutter about within
my stomach whenever you touch my skin.
