Intriguing
P K Routray
On a green pasture
a flock of sheep together
were grazing on with concentration
to their hearts’ content and satisfaction.
The shepherd, their master
was present, them to look after.
To keep them together and to break the monotony
he was playing his flute with serene sight in harmony.
At the end of the day
when the illumination started to decay,
the shepherd counted the flock of sheep
one short in number to his notice it did creep
With heavy heart and prayer he searched helter and skelter
for the missing sheep in the pasture, also in the forest near
He left all other sheep unguarded to their destiny
under the cover of darkness, a fact funny.
When he found the missing sheep in the forest
he was overjoyed and hugged the sheep as his dearest.
Love for one sheep made him, rest to forget
similar situations always in life generally we get.
Two sons of an old couple
one good and noble,
other wicked and prodigal
claimed his share and sold total.
Without care and love for his parents
went far for pleasure hunts and merriments,
lost his share of wealth in the process
Starving for many days, he was under distress.
He came back to his parents without option,
parents were overjoyed and went for celebration.
On the other brother they prevailed upon
and accommodated the son with love and elation
Their love for the good son was not so much loud
as shown to the prodigal one after his return as found
From both the examples above
after pangs of separation, brighter becomes love.
We human beings do not appreciate things in hand,
the best of our love, the missing things ever command.
Love when strained and tainted
sparkles with luster and become more vibrant
Intriguing is the magnitude and dimension of love
Which no logic and np human wisdom can ever solve.
