If it were Spring everyday

If it were Springtime everyday
we would take Spring for granted
and wouldn’t see April or May
as sacred or enchanted.

The birds and bees would be a bore
and rainbows make us yawn
and most would simply ignore
the splendour of the dawn.

But thanks to cold, white winter,
it still seems a wondrous thing
when she finally turns into
that bright butterfly of Spring.
