Up North

The Moose River
is fed from dozens of streams
joining in one great push
to Ontario’s frontier
surrounds a tiny island-village
Moose River Crossing
surges past village Moosonee
and further to lowlands
where early traders
sought the beaver
and geese shook the sky
then escaping into the vastness
of open water as Radisson
looked across
James Bay---a smaller
version of the vast Hudson.
