Losing Everything

They never really knew me
Though they truly thought they did
It was then I showed them
The truth of what is in

A long, dark past
Only told of through art
A wall of uncertainty
Wrapped around my heart

They told me
they were scared
I told them
they should be

They'll run away in fear
And I'll sit quietly
Saying that it doesn't hurt
To lose the ones that cared

Always in denial
With way too much to bear
I'll continue living
Without being fully there

Losing all that's good to me
Is not a recent thing
It's the center of my history
It's a part of me
