Cut back's

I'm fizzing about the way poor/vulnerable people are, as far as I'm concerned, being penalised whilst the wealthy cruise through the depression we are currently in.

I read today that the Independent Living Fund, which allowed disabled people to live in the community with necessary support is at risk, putting people back into institutions.

As a Welfare Rights Worker myself and dedicated volunteers fought to keep our Wellingborough Branch opened. With all funding withdrawn there was no alternative but to close the branch, twenty years of supporting a cross section of people, but we fought to the end. Although petrified at the thought of speaking in public at a huge gathering I decided to speak out...three minutes of terror....I'm glad I did it even if we did have to close in the end.

There have been many other organisations that have bitten the dust since then. Of course with fewer organisations vulnerable people have fewer resources to use.

I read today in my local E.T. that the voluntary army of people who used speed camera's in order to reduce accidents is being replaced. Of course volunteers will have been lost during closure/re-opening.

It feels to me like a ham fisted attempt to be seen to be doing the right thing with regards Welfare Benefits/Bedroom tax.
I grew up when National Assistance was intended to support myself and my brothers. We had the dregs of this money; first port of call was to my stepfather who drank our support away or choked on his fags. I see this situation being replicated even now.....Why?
