Searching; fifty shades of sight

I've spent over an hour talking to a journalist on the phone, for a family feature article in monthly magazine they are running later this year, how I accidently fell into writing and why.
I explained to her that it was because I'd lost total contact with my paternal family for decades,I'd felt incomplete. It was in 1999 that I began my solitary journey to interview as many people as I could manage in a year. My initial idea bore fruit when I interviewed a neighbour who kindly agreed to become the first person. I will be forever indebted to Jean who shared social history which spread far outside our town. I then interviewed Hob, not sure why he got this name, he shared funny times and sad one's.
By the time the Millenium Celebrations arrived the following July I'd gathered/typed up over twenty stories which were displayed in our community centre. It was only after I'd witnessed the amount of interest that my own display had caused, assisted by my daughters and their friends, that I realised the importance of what had been a project that I thought would be done and dusted in a year. Such was the interest in this display that it was decided to extend the planned week-end display to run into a week.
Five years followed during which time I'd interviewed over fifty people; years ranging from a child of ten to a lady aged 90. I self funded the book entitled Memories of Finedon; which proved successful with five hundred copies being sold in five days. More work has followed since this first step including another book which should by now be also an e-book.
My inspiration has been the loss of my family as well as the love of my own mum and dad.
