Vadim this German boy
Brought up in Hamburg's water world
Bright eyed pupil and Mother's lifebuoy.
Russians from that state no longer Russian
Brings no friend home where lives their fear
Fear of deportation to a strange land.
They came at midnight on his eighteenth birthday
Took Vadim and left the Mother
Now in Lettland, cropping plywood square
Three years for the friendless German boy
Ferry to Denmark,train to Hamburg
He changed said his group, watching him watchful.
The night express, his life between the rails,
Mother mourning, hair cropped, a prisoner.
