Trickling trick
By Rhiannonw
- 1861 reads
Life’s biochemistry,
infinite mystery:
but we hear
imaginative history
of decay in reverse,
arising complexity:
‘So it has been’,
some say
– a thing never seen:
for, otherwise, well,
only God could make a cell.
Thick layers of sediment
assumed to tell a tale
a developing trail
of plankton successfully
changing to create
a vertebrate –
how come?
how hard to contemplate,
for science opposes
unaided collusion,
attraction, contraction,
implosion
of mixture to
organised patterns
of atoms,
the chance acquisition
of complicated systems,
new.
But the sediments are settlements
from flooding smothering –
signs of catastrophic burials,
not recorded time-line
of incredible chance-developments.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
This was an interesting piece - full of very big words and ideas. I enjoyed reading it.
