LEFT SIDE OF MY BRAIN

the brain's divided in two halves
the left side and the right
and though they look the same
they couldn't be more black and white
.
the hemisphere that's on the left
is quite functional and strict
all tuned up like a guitar string
that methodically gets picked
.
the hemisphere that's on the right
seems to be of looser ends
artistic, not logistical
like a guitar string that bends
.
together they make music
while the left side keeps the pace
the right side's full of curlicues
adding colors to the space
.
whenever people fall in love
they're connected in their brains
their music weaves around
and makes quite wonderful refrains
.
you and i have joined up forces
what an orchestra we've made
and people hear us coming
like a holiday parade
.
i pray you never leave me
for i'd be lost and bereft
and the left side of my brain
would be the only side that's left
