if you were blind, i'd be your eyes
and i would help you visualize
the wonders of the world you'd miss
with words like an enchanting kiss
the pictures in your mind would rise
if you were blind, i'd be your eyes
.
if you were deaf, i'd be your ears
and ease your silent world of fears
i'd be the music you once heard
and spell to you the spoken word
i'd give you what a person hears
if you were deaf, i'd be your ears
.
if you were mute, i'd be your voice
and form the message of your choice
i'd tell the world your point of view
i'd be a telegraph from you
and in that thought you should rejoice
if you were mute, i'd be your voice
.
yet, you are blind, for you don't see
exactly what you mean to me
.
yet you are deaf, for you don't hear
the loving message i've made clear
.
yet you are mute, for you won't say
the words i'd love to hear some day
.
and though i love you very much
it's clear to me, we're out of touch
but i will always be nearby
