As October fades
I say goodbye to all the fallen leaves,
All the colours fading
To brown and then
Disintegrating to dust.

As October fades
I say goodbye to all the smells,
Smells of ash and smoke and
The smell of earth and
Nature at her finest.

As October fades
I say goodbye to Halloween,
To all the would be
Scarers and all the mock horrors,
Another holiday over.

As October fades,
More importantly,
I say goodbye to you.

As November begins
I say hello to all the dead leaves,
All the voidless spaces and
All the colours turned to nothing
The trees skeletons are bare.

As November begins
I say hello to all the new smells,
The smell of bonfires and
Newly lit fireworks and the
Smell of a new season forming.

As November begins
I say hello to Bonfire Night,
To all the sparkler
Users and treacle eaters,
Another holiday starting.

As November begins,
More importantly,
I say hello to you.
