winter down

brilliant sunlight casts a shroud closely followed by greyish  winter clouds

while leaves are mostly fallen down above the sunshine touching the  ground

digging sounds of birds busily feeding like hippies in a garden weeding

filling out fair winters down as morning dew on feather abounds

wild plum to thorny blackberry eyes darting about suspicious and wary

graceful wings gliding  down to flock together some chirping merry

then leaving abruptly back to hidden nest finding warmth and some brief rest

as snow begins falling on down like a silent blanket for the blest
