Spring is a breaking out (Gentle folk song)

The sun holds the whole world within its loving hand
bringing the brightening breath of life to all the land;
nature has finally broken free from winters chains;
life’s flooding out, flowing free like an emerald rain.
Every valley and hill is draped in velvet, green
and, after stormy tempered winter, Spring’s serene
now new born creatures crawl from earthwombs underground
and little leaping lambs make their first bleating sounds.
Spring is a breaking out;
like a soul
free to sing and shout;
like a heart
by new love set free;
the bright spirit
of liberty.
Pretty petal by petal, bright blooms open up
beckoning bees, upon their sweet nectar, to sup
the little beaks of birds break free from speckled shells
butterflies shatter free from silk cocoons aswell.
And people who, all winter long, have hid away
now come out to feel the warm touch of bright sun rays
and the joy that has hibernated in my breast
soars skyward like a brightly plumed bird from its nest.
Spring is a breaking out;
like a soul
free to sing and shout;
like a heart
by new love set free;
the bright spirit
of liberty.
