Aging

Why is it we forget more as time goes swiftly by?
It's an inevitable process no matter how hard we try.
We scrunch our eyes and the gears go round
Yet there are some things that just cannot be found.
Faceless names and nameless faces
We dig deep, deeper than we should, and yet there are no traces
No ghost of a whisper from a time long ago
No clues to go on as there's nothing else to show.
We forget our younger years
Our long lost hopes and fears
The foolish dreams we once possessed
Have long since been laid to rest.
We forget how we were so lost and insecure
With thoughts of 'I don't know' or 'I'm unsure'
The times when nothing seemed to go right
And the times we had to earn with a fight.
However we forget all of these things
While the ache of familiarity constantly rings,
It rings forever inside our head
Yet these memories and more are all left unsaid
And yet we all forget other things too
Now tell me again,
Who are you?

You really get what you're
You really get what you're talking about, fallenAngel. I'm not quite there yet, but I see hints of myself here. Sad, but I truly enjoyed.

erm...
no, forward invited me to put one in for their new anthology 'love is in the air' and it came out of the blue.
I don't think I did put it on here. Mostly i don't. That last one I put here, was the one I'd written a while back, aand re-edited up for the guardian's poster page webpage. When I copied it from their website to put on thi sone the formatting went wild. I'm not sure if I like it better...
