Nobody Says a Word (Fukushima)

The silence is never broken
There’s no birdsong in the morning
And the waves dig their claws
Into the wounds
The oceans were innocent
But bullied into blame
The wind sneezed
The ground shivered
And the air was filled
With poison
The aftermath was the beginning
The fallout was a metaphor
Coasts around the pacific
Had death washed up on their shore
But there can be no link
Between nuclear energy
And King Cancer of the waves
The TV cameras have long since gone
Whilst the hospitals deliver
Babies that can’t be saved
The nuclear industry pretends
The danger is overstated
This view has nothing to do
With the billion dollar trade
Danger is distant and strange
To the men waving arms
In Tokyo, London and New York
Stock Exchange
But the killer roams free
Like mist departing the sea
