This first kill of a human was so important to him that he still kept the small bags that were tied onto the girl around his neck. He had opened the bags to find a small assortment of stones and bones in one and dried herbs and seeds in the other. Through the millennia the contents of this small bag had turned to dust from time and his constant handling. He still kept the small bag filled with dust and small pebbles and from time to time would take it out and feel the contents flow through his fingers. Each time he did this he would relive the experience of his first kill. He knew that he needed to find more of the same. There were few memories before that, but millions after. All were of hunting and killing humans. But this first memory of his first kill was etched into his brain like a photograph. Those were very difficult times but that was his life. He would rest during the day and hunt at night, this dance of death went on for eons. The realization that the earth was becoming populated not just with four legged animals but also two was becoming quite apparent. There were many different types of creatures living in different dimensions or realms of existence. There were the dwarves that lived deep inside volcanoes and deep caves. They very rarely ventured out of their dark domains. Alucard had only seen it happen twice in all the millions of years he had inhabited the earth. Once was to look for a lost dwarf child and the other was a dwarf being driven away because of some unforgivable deed, they died in a very short time away from those they loved. There were the fairies that made their home anywhere where the light seemed to play tricks on the eyes of humans. In this way they could hide in plain site because their existence would be attributed to all that was misunderstood about the natural world. They especially loved to live near waterfalls, darting in and out of the roaring water looking like small fish or water spray. Humans loved to spend time near where the fairies lived, thinking it was the water that drew them, but indeed the truth was that the fairies exuded a scent and energy force that was irresistible to humans. There was a race of very small, big headed creatures who also walked on their two legs. These creatures lived inside rocks and only came out on the darkest of nights to cause havoc and pull tricks on the unsuspecting humans. They would seep from their rock homes as if there were unseen doorways and skip, run and roll over the lush countryside giggling and laughing as they went. The sounds they made were that of running water, distant tinkling bells or many of the common sounds heard in a forest. Nothing made them happier than to find a human alone and taunt and then reveal themselves to the poor, scared creature. Most of the time the human would run off screaming to the nearest encampment of other humans but sometimes he or she would stand her ground and attempt to converse with these small tyrants. A few were very successful and the small creatures loved this. Taunting and teasing a human was fun but speaking with one was an ultimate achievement. These humans that accomplished this inter special conversations were granted mystical powers of sight and perception and went on to become wizards, warlocks, witches, soothsayers and the such. These other dimensional species only offered Alucard a way in which to pass his time watching and laughing at them. What ran through their veins was not like human blood but more like pure energy which he could not digest. He had tried once to take a fairy but she had turned on him and it felt as if he had been hit by a massive lightning strike. When he awoke she was flying right above his nose and giving him a stern look. At just the right moment she gave him a good kick on his nose and disappeared. His nose still smarted from this assault. When he finally found the creature he killed it and drank it's blood but the taste was sharp and acidic. He never again attempted to make any of these other creatures his dinner.
