1st Verse:
The caged bird watched the spring go by
and golden Summer too.
With his wings clipped he could not fly
as birds are born to do.
He longed to sit within a tree and sing
sweet songs of love
and soar as high as ecstasy up to blue skies above.
Chorus:
To live; to sing; to love; to fly
be one with Spring and touch the sky;
free from this cage; this plastic age;
to live; to sing; to love; to fly
To live; to sing; to love; to fly
there is no other reason why
a bird has wings except those things
to live; to sing; to love; to fly
2nd Verse:
The caged bird watched brown autumn leaves
come tumbling to the ground
and sang a lonely love song just to hear its
echo sound.
He dreamed about the ancient days when
birds must have been free
to fly and sing and live the life a birds life’s meant to be.
Chorus:
To live; to sing; to love; to fly
be one with Spring and touch the sky;
free from this cage; this plastic age;
to live; to sing; to love; to fly
To live; to sing; to love; to fly
there is no other reason why
a bird has wings except those things
to live; to sing; to love; to fly
