Don't Look Up

Don't look up you might actually see the world that is right in front of you.  It could be a frightening place, it could be a world of wonder and beauty.  Go back to your cyber womb and the warm comfort that your frantic thumbs seek.

Sure your eyes looked up, but they didn't see me.  A simple visual scan to confirm you weren't walking into a lampost or something and then back to the soothing balm of a world only you were party to.  Maybe it's fear, maybe contempt that makes you ignore me.  Perhaps you are insecure and hate that which you cannot control.  Who knows and from your angle, who cares. Your touch-screen world dances to the frantic beat of thumbs that move so fast they almost blur.  I didn't want to scare you.  I didn't even want to know you but I suppose it hurt that you simply ignored me. 

Why be outside when you want to shut the world away.  Wouldn't it be best if you closed the door and let the darkness consume you.  I know this world is unpredictable, scary, endless...I could go on but I think you know what I mean.  I suppose all of us at some time get a little frightened of the immensity of reality and seek solace in an unreal world we have more control of but it's a chance worth taking.  Put the bloody thing down and smile at someone.  It might scare the shit out of them or they might even smile back.  You, yes YOU might never know because you are lost in a place that the Matrix would be proud of.
