Origami Rabbit

There are things I want,

things I’ve always wanted

that you could never give me:

love notes with swooping letters,

a good enough reason to trust you,

the sense of security

that I so desperately needed,

a twinkle in your eye

like the one you give to animals

and that you gave to him,

a decent reason to leave

even though I’m obviously

not enough, 

a better reason

to stay away 

Of all the things I’ve asked for

this is the one I need most desperately 

Give me the strength

to walk away
