a pale crescent moon
tinged with bloody stars
sharing the public platform
the carbon template,
a thin guise
shadowing their fealty
to the black stone,
while chiseling away
the underlying principles
embedded in the cornerstone
of Western democracy
wearing the code of justice
as a badge of honor
when their values are upheld,
ethnic grievances adjudicated
until light pen pricks,
an innocent tonic
for the irreverent cliques,
punctures the fragile psyche
striking the jihadist pulse
of the devouter soul
causing a catatonic fit
the irrational robot
morphing into mercenary
the ninja of Allah
denounces the byline
stalks the purveyor
