Lust

I always thought that deadly meant fatal.
I never associated that adjective with sin
and don’t see how the latter can be lethal
as the label does not say what’s in the tin.

I am told that I’m an ignoramus and a fool
and theologians have said this to my face.
I should’ve been taught at Sunday school
that sinning means the loss of divine grace.

But mortal sins are committed by mortals
and some are simply agnostics or atheists.
Will they be rejected at heaven’s portals?
Perhaps they will be put on a waiting list.

Having been lustful about a blonde bimbo
it seems I have transgressed some doctrine.
It doesn’t make much sense to be in Limbo
when religious dogmas get under my skin.
