Who Are You Staying For?

I stopped cleaning mirrors because you’d always look into them hoping to find yourself. I didn’t want to see you cry at your own reflection again, because I have to clean the shards of broken glass embedded in your arm. You’d never let me, though, isn’t that right? No, instead, you’d scream at me for decorating. Then, there’s glass in my neck. You never were a knight in shining armor. Your armor rusted when you sat in the sand because you wouldn’t swim or walk away. Did you always hope to drown? No, you’re chaos. You break and roll and recuperate. You come back for more. You can’t stop coming back for more, just like I promised.
There’s blood on the sand around you and it’s taking you much too long to realize it’s your own.
