Chapter 15
Cyber Soul
Kia looked up and saw Kian looking down at her. He did not say a word but she heard, ‘what you did you do,’ even as he smiled and drew her close.
“I’m sorry Kian,” she said as she released her arms and drew back.
His blinked as his smile faded and his eyes narrowed. Suddenly the glass turned to stone. He knew. “I was dead Kia. Part of me still is.” He looked away from her and saw the others including Alex had walked away giving them their privacy.
“You, you have changed Kian. I, I can’t feel your heart beating against mine.”
He gave her a weak little smile, “I lost my heart. But then, I don’t need one anymore.”
“Yes you do Kian.”
“No Kia, I don’t. I’m a machine. You can tell. I see it in your eyes. You don’t recognize me, not really.”
She blushed and hung her head. “You see something too, or, someone.”
“Alex,” Kian said coldly, “I see Alex, you, you were holding his hand. I saw that too.” He opened his arms, letting her step back, which she did.
“You died Kian,” she said turning her back to him as she spoke, “I saw your body fly apart and fall out of the sky, then later they shot you. My head almost exploded,” her voice cracked, “just like yours did. I’m sure I would have died, but Alex was there. He held me, bound my head, soaked up my blood with his shirt. He saved my life then he pulled me out the pit. I went to the Older’s Bed to die, he followed me there.”
“They made you for me Kia. That was wrong. Things are right now. You have your life. You made your choice and it was a good one. It was the right one. I have to accept that.”
Kia swung around and glared at him, “Stop it Kian, don’t be noble be angry, curse me hate me.”
“I can’t do that Kia, I just can’t.”
“Why not,” Kia yelled.
“Because I love you, that’s all. I just love you.”
Kia just stared at him and shook her head. She almost ran back into his arms but didn’t, “You didn’t lose your heart Kian you let it swallow you.”
He looked at her for a few seconds and grunted, “Well that’s just gross,” he said smiling at her exasperation. He turned toward the others, who had meandered some distance away as their conversation grew more intense and personal, focusing his attention on Alex.
“Alex your wife is waiting for you.”
They all just looked at each other and shrugged.
“It’s alright, really. It’s over.” Kian said as he eyes shifted back to Kia. “It’s over,” he repeated as they rejoined them and he watched Alex take his wife’s hand.

Poor Kia doesn't know how to
Poor Kia doesn't know how to be with Kian, it must be awful for her now he's changed, though his kindness hopefully will help her realise her place is with Alex now.
Great read, now onto next part.
Jenny.
