Autumn Lilies

I stood there
with seasons blushing overhead
and grey grass beneath my feet.
I stood there
absorbing the eulogies and lies
that permeate the atmosphere
like scents of sweet summer lilies.
I stood there
wondering if he was still alive,
hoping he was gone forever,
praying there was pain in purgatory.
I walked away
with fleeting fear but eternal scars
and autumn lilies dying in the wind.

This is good. The flower as central image, funeral blooms, not easy to take the lies they routinely tell of great people at funerals.
