Comments are very welcome. I am kind of new to writing and am working on a Novel. So I will be using this to adjust my writing style a little.
We were sitting there having our morning cup of coffee when we heard the sirens. We thought they were getting closer, but we weren't sure. Before we knew it, S.W.A.T. and F.B.I. in our house with us in cuffs. All we could do was look at each other with bewilderment. Neither of us had a clue what was happening.
6 Months Earlier
Leaving the house this morning, I figured I would stop for coffee at the new little place at the end of my street. As I was about to open the door, I noticed this gorgeous lady on her way out. We stopped on either side of the door for what seemed like eons. After a moment I opened the door and greeted the stunning being by stumbling over my words and feeling like I had firmly planted my foot in my mouth. To my surprise, she smiled and initiated a long conversation. So long, in fact, we sat and had a cup of coffee.
We talked about her daughter, my job, her job, we even talked about the relationship she had just ended. She told me how abusive her girlfriend had been to her and their boyfriend. What I didn't expect was for her to tell me the other lady had been murdered two months ago. Of course I couldn't come up with a worthy response. Her eyes seemed to be looking for a response to judge though. I could only exclaim that I was sorry for her loss. I was quite surprised to hear her chuckle. She told me it wasn't a loss so much as a gain. Which I could understand if she was abusive, she probably wouldn't be missed all too much. So I shrugged and agreed.
I decided to ask her about the boyfriend, which seemed a touchy subject, but I asked anyways. She told me once the police found out he was the one to murder her, he committed suicide. This question seemed to upset her a bit, as she really cared for him. I gave my condolences and apologized for inquiring on the subject. Tears in her eyes she just nodded at me, and reached for my hand to hold.
