The Tale Of Little Blue Bonnet (Red Riding Hood-esque tale)

There was once a little girl who everyone called little blue bonnet because of the blue hat she always wore.

And one day, little blue bonnet was skipping through the woods to her grandmothers house when she met the big, bad wolf.

Now the big, bad wolf could have pounced on her and gobbled her up then and there but he thought it too near to the village where people lived and worried that, if little blue bonnet cried for help, someone might hear her.

So, instead, the big bad wolf said,

"Would you like to see fairies and elves, little girl? I know the place where they all meet and dance about. It is deep in the woods and, if you follow me, i will take you to it".

Now, little blue bonnet knew that she shouldn't talk to wolves. Her grandmother and mother had often warned her how dangerous they were but she had always wanted to see fairies and elves and, her curiosity getting the better of her, she said,

"Alright".

Then she followed the wolf into the woods.

And every so often, as she was following the wolf, little blue bonnet would ask,

"Are we there yet, Mr Wolf? At the place where the elves and fairies live?".

But each time she asked this, the wolf would grin and say,

"Just a little further my dear; just a little deeper into the woods".

Until, finally, they had gone far enough into the woods that the wolf thought, if the little girl cried out, no one would hear her.

Then the wolf, turned to her and said,

"Silly little girl. Do you still believe in fairies and elves? Well, because you've been a silly girl, I'm going to eat you up".

Then the wolf, licking his lips and opening his mouth wide, came towards her and she, trembling with fear backed away from him.

But then, just as the wolf was about to pounce upon her, out from behind all the trees and bushes came little elves and fairies, flying and dancing and skipping as they flapped their little wings and they all had fairy wands aswell for turning big, bad, wolves into little, squeaking mice.

And, seeing them, the wolf was so terrified that he ran off, howling, into the woods.

Then the fairies invited little blue bonnet to join them in a merry Autumn dance and to sip some of their fairyberry cordial; they even gave her a pretty crown of fairy gold to wear ontop of her bonnet and the little girl had a very magical time.
