A Hallowed Evening

"Go ahead, son. Do it." A dark voice whispers in my left ear. "You have nothing left to lose, nothing left to fear."
A smile crosses the face that once was mine. That face has been someone else for quite some time. Not that I'm complaining, I've grown to like it. Since he took the controls in my mind's cockpit everything has been clear.
I stand above her, no absence of malice, the smile becomes a sneer. Dear, sweet Alice. If only you'd known what you were getting yourself in to. I never wanted to hurt you, I'd wanted to save you but the best of intentions can sometimes awry. I cover her mouth, muffling any cry, and plunge the knife deep in her chest. Again and again I stab, until I need rest.
"Well done," the dark voice whispers, "now we are free." The sentence is jarring, when did you become we? He had always been separate, something apart from myself. I knew he was evil, something risen from the depths of hell but I never saw him as a twin. Rather an advocate for my love of all things sin. So who is this dark voice in my left ear? In search of the answer, I turn around to hear.
"You fucking idiot." She stands as I stare in shock. "It was all in your head, you stupid cock. There was no voice, there was no devil." I still haven't blinked as I begin to backpedal away from the zombie who has risen to speak a truth that feels as definitive as my heart does weak.
"H-How are you doing this?" I manage to stutter.
"That's the thing, my love, you're not the only one who's a fucking nutter. Just like I'm not the only one who's dead."
Her words take an age to sink through my head. "But I'm stood right here, clearly alive."
"Speaking to the corpse of your recently killed bride."
That's a fair point, I have to concede. I can still see the wounds from which I made her bleed. "So, what now?" I ask, hesitant.
"My love, we can do whatever you want. Don't worry, I'm not in a mood. It was me who killed you, I poisoned your food."
Imagine that, a couple so perfect they synchronize murder. I step to her and the look her in her eyes has me take a step further.
"I hate you." I whisper, wrapping her in my arms.
"I never could resist your romantic charms." She quips with a smirk I can feel against my chest. "So what do you think of rest?"
"It doesn't feel that way." I look out the window at kids playing in the street. It feels a lot like the real world resting under my feet.
"You're wondering if they're real or not, aren't you." She asks as she shifts round in the hug to get a better view of the game of football going on below.
"Well, there's only one way we can know for sure if they're real or fake." Her eyes take the murderous glint of a snake about to spit at it's pray.
"Let's make sure everyone remembers this day." She whispers the words in to my left ear. "Let's kill them all, my dear."

Welcome to ABC tales, Tiny... this has plenty of menace... an abrupt swerve from delusion to reality. Looks like a lot of horror fans and ghouls are assembling for All Hallows Eve
