The Spirit Of Christmas (Seasonal Song)

Long ago there was a boy
who searched for the Spirit of Christmas;
he looked within the land of Toys
but the Spirit wasn't there.

Though he found a land of living dolls;
folks with painted smiles and clockwork souls
still the Spirit was not there at all;
it was a land of plastic cheer.

So the boy went to the land of Sweets
to find the Spirit of Christmas
but though he found nice things to eat
still no spirit could he see.

Though he found a land of gingerbread.
Folks with candy hearts and chocolate heads
and upon a sugar feast he fed
inside, he still felt empty

So he travelled on to Tinseltown
to find the Spirit of Christmas
but although it sparkled like a crown
still no Spirit could he find.

Though the people there were brightly dressed
they were rich indeed but they were not blessed
'cause the golden hearts in their treasure chests
had no love to make them shine.

And so, sadly, he came home again
without the Spirit of Christmas
walked back into his house and then
he saw his mum and his dad

And they gave him a big hug and kiss
that filled up his heart with happiness
then he realised, "The Spirit is this.
Its something I always had".

Now if you are searching like that boy
to find the Spirit of Christmas;
the thing that fills Christmas with joy
its not in some far off place.

Its not deep below or high above
'cause the Spirit of Christmas is love;
lifts your heart up like a snow white dove
and puts a smile upon your face.
