Most would say it was her voice
It was a thing of beauty
It bettered the ones who heard it
It bettered nations
It bettered the world
Some would say it was her dignity
She did not need times consent
How she dared
How she remained unbowed
They saw the nobility of her spirit
Few would say it was her gifts
That she chose to give them despite,
The ones who would slap them from her hands
Ones with closed eyes
Ones with small thoughts
I would say it was all this and more
That makes her an inspiration
She was a person worthy of remembrance
As a singer, as a ambassador, as a herald
