ONLY IF WE COULD GO BACK:
Story by Johnbest Obialo
Hart opened his eyes, he couldn't recognize the environment he found himself. He could only hear the ocean gargles. He looked around, he saw few others - most wounded, most in Chains.
He tried to get up, but, he couldn't - The chains on his legs held him to the beam in the ship. "what happened?", he tries to remember, "where is Dad? Where is everyone?" he asked himself, looking left, right and everywhere.
"We were celebrating the feast of the month end" he starts to remember - "Dad declared me heir to the throne." he continued, "just then..., oh no!" he exclaimed, he finally remembered it all.
A fleet of pirate ship landed on their shores, the shores of Beckland. Just when king Alexander the fifth, his father, had crowned him 'heir' to the throne of Beckland.
The 'fish claw pirates' graced their land, surprisingly, their feast.
24hours before:
The king had gone to meet the Pirates, alongside himself and other warriors of Beckland. All singing the songs of war and dressed for battle.
"Nothing good comes from the Pirates; it's a battle for our women, your sisters, our children, your rights, more so, our lands." King Alexander told his warriors.
"Fight to the death," he charged them...
This was all Hart remembered, no more, no less.
"But, what happened in the fight?, did we win?, did we lose?," he asked himself in curiosity. "perhaps, I was hit, and I fainted in the fight - now I'm here" he convinced himself.
Just as he was still in contemplation, the Pirates ship he was in crashed into a sea iceberg and caused a major damage to the bunker room.
Gradually water was breaking through, finding its way into the ship.
"Overboard... Overboard sailors - throw the captives overboard. Save your life." the Captain shouted.
Immediately, Hart and other captives were thrown overboard. Into the raging blue sea.
The ship began to sink, water overflowed the deck of the ship - disrupting the buoyancy, the ship sinks, and into the Ocean, the pirates fell.
Meanwhile! Hart now gasping for air, in the water, remembers his people and Beckland.
His dying heart beating slow - he mutters, "Only if we could go back, back to yesterday, before it all started."

I enjoyed this short piece, although very sad for young Hart. Life can be very cruel! Effective scenario.
