and your sweet-sweet
ways – when youth
leaned young and innocence
a mark of parent’s love.
Days with mom in the kitchen
learning cookie-magic
and cool dad
throwing a basketball.
Then it’s lipstick and high school
and boys. No longer did
Barbie dolls spend
your time – and much too soon
dating the one
you learned to love--
with marriage and babies
thrilling parents
who’ll always love
their little girl in the sandbox.
