Calming

The stage was set for a quarrel,
they’d niggled each other all day,
but someone said a gentle word,
and the tension crumbled away.

The stage was set for a trigger,
an electric storm in the air,
but someone spoke of those in need
of help and loving care.

The stage was set for revolution,
more suffering, oppression,
but someone prayed for wisdom words
and all to willingly listen.
