I long for cows
like the ones who enjoyed
the chase – us kids watching
their tails swish
the way their haunches
swayed in the wind
and cow pies
marking their trail to freedom.
Memories of a farm
the land growing in the wind
and sun – hay sprouting
and the joy of
childhood scrambling
in a race to the pond.
Now I am older – mom and
dad passed away
children grown and far too soon.
But time is forever
etched in the gaze I hold onto
and the joy in my heart
forever and more.

I must admit I've never found a cow
I must admit I've never found a cow romantic I guess a farmer could! One could get attached to a cow it is possible, a country boy like Jonny Cash or John Denver.
Excellent description of the meadow Richard! Tom
