Everyone's going to the opticians

My optician was called Ross and he was excellent.

They are open until 7.30 now, and that seems late

for an optician to be finishing their shift.

I'd like to talk to Ross about the significant moments

that have lead to him becoming an optician

and how he feels about it all,

'All of this' I'll say, spreading my arms out wide

both of us drunk, sitting on a tartan picnic blanket

across the shop floor at 2 am

because he's got the keys to Specsavers

and all four of us are wearing glasses

that deliberately don't suit us,

me and Ross and the two people 

we picked up along the way

but are you happy? I ask Ross

and I video his answer because I think people

will want to know what he says.
