Noise

the music, the noise and the heartbeat of time
the clinking of glasses, filled up with wine
the rumble of traffic , a distant roll call,
the roar of the crowd as their team wins the ball
the high pitched whirring- a dentist's drill
the drumming of rain on the windowsill
the swishing of cars on a rain slicked street
the much vaunted patter of tiny feet
the sound of a drummer's skill and precision
my favourite music, Van's 'Beautiful Vision'
the rattle of machine guns in a far-off warzone
the insistent chirrup of the latest I-phone
the squalling of gulls, a discordant cry
the beat of white wings, as they swoop on by
the drunkard's shouts, a howl at the moon,
the slamming of doors and seperate rooms
soon all becomes silent , its almost that stage
the silence of music , four minutes -john cage
the almost mute darkness in depths of the night
the homeless lay hidden , in margins from sight.
