Faced with Life Choices

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Lot chose the best,
and left the rest
to Abraham.
In Sodom, though,
he soon would know
deep problems come.
    When faced with choice
    heed scripture’s voice
    – God’s will be done.

Unpleasantness
– sin brought distress,
and caught in war;
though freed, Lot soon
heard Sodom’s doom
– must flee before.
    When faced with choice
    heed scripture’s voice
    how wise God’s law.

Himself to please,
Lot sought for ease,
and all was lost;
but Abram’s trust
in God (not lust)
brought what would last.
    When faced with choice
    heed scripture’s voice
    – God’s way is blessed.

What a nice way to start a Sunday with one of your poems. I really like the way you have laid this out. Nice to be back in the writing community again.

How lovely to hear from you! You have been on my mind recently and especially yesterday when I decided to post an old poem for the IP, and said I wasn't removing the earlier version  because of comments on it by previous members, including you ( and then realised you might well come back soon, and now you have!).

I look forward to reading your new contribution, though it probably won't be until tomorrow.

We are not ships out lost at sea, as you say Rhiannon we do have choices we can never take all the blame nor all the credit. We can always pray for guidance and wisdom.

Well said then, I do wonder about your example some people may take offence I am sure it isn't meant and there are many other stories too.

I was focussing on Lot being given the choice and choosing the richest land for himself, leaving the rest to his uncle Abraham, which seems to imply selfishness, thoughtlessness, and not godly principles. It led him to being alwasy with those who ignored the Lord. In the end it brought him nothing but trouble, and although he seemed to have faith (2 Peter 2:7) he seems to have wandered from the Lord and his ways and blessings. Rhiannon
