There Is
By Richard L. Provencher
- 764 reads
a yawn in his
voice as he sprints
down 13 steps
and soon the
scent of bacon
and eggs saturate
his space.
Sounds from
three children above
as they step
onto cold acrylic
flooring
and dad’s sing-song
“bacon ’n eggs
lures them
to the lower floor
where they learn
a new morning song
& before long
“bacon ‘n eggs”
fills the room.

I thoroughly enjoyed your poem. It had a strong narrative drive and while I'm personally not a fan of all lowercase poems, I felt that you're decision to largely omit capitalization actually made the poem feel more casual almost comfortable in a sense (which is a good thing!). Just as an aside, is Sounds supposed to be capitalized. It would make sense for it to be because it is the start of a new sentence, but at the same time you didn't capitalize "a yawn in his." Please respond I need to know, it's burning me up.
