Not So Long Ago

that tree was flavoured

with rainbow

colours – an enchanting

view of a Christmas

season now

gone by – once

a haven for

glee from happy children

anxious for presents

on a special morning

and now it lays

abandoned

and without need - devoid

of character

or an exception for its

stale presence

thrust shyly

alongside the curb

awaiting

a garbage truck

to take this derelict

to its new place of rest.
